Sauber, Monisha Kaltenborn does not disdain the Alfa Romeo hypothesis: "Excellent brand"
The Swiss team is looking for partners
With the financial crisis it is experiencing at the beginning of 2016, Sauber is looking for new partners. The Swiss team took part in the Chinese Grand Prix (where participation was seriously at risk) thanks to the sponsors of Marcus Ericsson. The supporters of the Swedish driver have in fact paid their share in advance into Hinwil's coffers.
But this solution cannot always be implemented. In recent weeks, Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne had launched a proposal to save the Swiss team: Alfa Romeo's return to the premier class of motorsport. The historic Biscione brand could thus take over Sauber, in the event that the latter took on the debts.
A proposal that found fertile ground at Sauber, as can be seen from the words of Monisha Kaltenborn released to the Swiss newspaper Blick: “We are open to any solution. L'Alfa Romeo would be a good partner for any type of team".
