Sauber: Kobayashi eighth in Malaysia. Retirement for Sergio Perez

The Sauber team scored its first world championship points in Malaysia with Kobayashi finishing the Sepang race eighth. Perez, however, withdrew due to a technical problem.

Kamui Kobayashi – Pos 8 (NB: Kobayashi was subsequently assigned seventh position due to the twenty second penalty imposed post-race on Hamilton):
“I had a good car, the team did a great job, and I'm particularly happy because we were able to score our first points here. The strategy with only two stops was a bit risky, but I think it worked quite well. I had some good, fair battles with Mark Webber and Michael Schumacher, and I enjoyed it. ”

Sergio Perez – retired:
“Something came out of Sébastien Buemi's car, which was right in front of me, and hit the bottom of my car. The electrical system failed and so I was forced to retire and I couldn't finish the race, a shame as the car was good.”
