Sauber: Hulkenberg, “Q3 here at the Nurburgring is a success for us”

Satisfaction for the Sauber team at the end of qualifying for the German Grand Prix on the Nurburgring circuit. Nico Hulkenberg managed to place his Sauber in the top ten of the starting grid, while his teammate, Esteban Gutierrez, will start from 14th position.

Nico Hulkenberg – Pos 10: “Reaching Q3 today was a success for us. I am confident that we can get a good result tomorrow. Compared to yesterday afternoon, we managed to improve the set-up for this morning's free practice. I think we have a package now that allows us to fight for points. Yesterday's long run looked promising and, combined with the strategy I can choose for the start of tomorrow's race, I am confident that we can achieve a good result. I haven't set a time in Q3, so I'm free to choose my tires for the start of tomorrow's race. I am convinced that it will be an advantage. The team told me that P6 would be possible today, but today is Saturday and the race is what counts, the points are only taken tomorrow. The soft tires are quite challenging to handle here, especially with a full tank. We will start in the top ten tomorrow and our goal is to stay in the points. ”

Esteban Gutierrez – Pos 14 : “Today we saw a step forward for us, we worked with a lot of different set-ups yesterday and we were able to draw the right conclusions from the data we collected. I was able to attack and get a lot out of the car in qualifying. However, I still have to improve. Nico had a fantastic lap, but I will continue to work to improve my performance level, especially in qualifying. P14 is, as in Malaysia, the furthest place on the grid I have reached so far. For tomorrow we have to put together a good strategy to improve from there."

Monisha Kaltenborn – Team Principal: “We are happy today and from the result you can clearly see that the car has improved. We could have achieved even more, but we decided to focus fully on tomorrow's race, also because our long runs yesterday looked promising. “.
