Sauber: Gutierrez, “I've done all the checks in hospital and everything is fine”
Both Saubers involved in accidents
The Bahrain Grand Prix, which took place in a night race for the first time, was a big disappointment for Team Sauber. Adrian Sutil and Esteban Gutiérrez were both involved in accidents and so were forced to retire. Gutiérrez's car overturned several times, but fortunately the driver remained unharmed.
Esteban Gutierrez
“First of all, the most important is that I'm ok. They have done all the checks in the hospital and everything is fine. Regarding the accident, I was completely surprised that Pastor (Maldonado), who came out of the pits, touched me. I was clearly ahead of him. I turned into the bend and suddenly I was hit and I turned around. There was nothing I could do."
Adrian Sutil
“My race ended quite early. Jules (Bianchi) braked too late and we made contact in the hairpin. I was unable to do anything to prevent it, and my car was damaged. With his move he destroyed my race as well as his. Overall, the weekend was difficult. However, I wanted to finish the race to cover more kilometers and also gain experience with the car. The next race in China will come soon.”
