Sauber: double retirement in Canada for de la Rosa and Kobayashi

A very disappointing Canadian Grand Prix for Sauber. After the terrible performances offered yesterday in qualifying Pedro de la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi both retired in today's race.

Peter of the Rose
“Not finishing the race is undoubtedly disappointing. On the first lap of the race Vitaly Petrov spun in front of me on the straight, he hit my car when he came back onto the track from the grass. The front wing broke and I went back in to fit a new nose. The rear wing also had some damage, but not very serious. So I continued and the car was quite competitive. We brought my stop forward because suddenly the rear tires ran out. After the stop everything seemed ok but then on lap 31 I felt a sudden loss of speed on the straight and I immediately realized there was a serious problem."

Kamui Kobayashi
“This shouldn't have happened. I made a great start from 18th position and on the first lap I was battling with Nico Hulkenberg on the opposite straight for ninth position. In front of us was Michael Schumacher, who seemed to be struggling when braking before the chicane. All three of us braked late and suddenly I had no room left. I hit the curb, the car jumped and I damaged it so much that I had to retire."
