Sam Michael will remain in Formula 1 with another team

Sam Michael declared yesterday in Turkey that he will stay in F1 next year. After Williams' bad start to the season, the Australian resigned from his position as technical director of the Grove team.

Replaced by the returning Mike Coughlan, 40-year-old Michael has said he will finish the 2011 season at Williams before joining another team.

“Clearly I'll be in F1 next year,” said Michael, who began his F1 career with Jordan and Lotus in the 90s. "Where? I don't know yet. I can't talk about it."

Michael has received support from Rubens Barrichello and Mark Webber recently: “I have received some interest from the outside, which is encouraging,” he explained.

Michael admitted that his workload at Williams should be greatly reduced once his successor arrives: “If Williams decides it's best to leave the job to someone else that's fine. But I want to leave Williams professionally and in the best position possible,” concluded Michael.
