Sainz: “I'm very happy with my qualifications”

A bittersweet Saturday for Toro Rosso in qualifying for the Silverstone GP. Carlos Sainz he achieved an excellent result and will start 7th; big disappointment for Daniil Kvyat, only 15th.

The Spaniard achieved yet another great result of a season in constant growth: “I am very happy with the result of qualifying, especially after having had a difficult Friday. We stayed late last night analyzing all the data and made some changes to the car which made me feel good today. We improved our performance by half a second and managed to fight for Q3: I did a good lap, I managed to get a few tenths more and to be the best in the middle group. Starting from seventh place is a great result for the whole team and I would like to thank everyone for their hard and constant work. We needed a good qualifying after the three comebacks in the last races. Tomorrow we will start in a very good position, on the clean side of the grid: we hope to be able to move forward, it will be a difficult race as the cars around us have better pace, but we have to try to beat our rivals and fight for the most number of possible points”.

However, Kvyat's qualifying was terrible, in difficulty and out of Q2 with the 15th fastest time: “How frustrating it is! I was slowed down by Magnussen from Turn 13 during my Q2 lap and my qualifying was unfortunately compromised. It would have been interesting to see how my lap would have gone without that happening, but I got stuck behind him. Starting from fifteenth position is disappointing and not what we expected, but the pace of the car is not bad so I hope we can have a good race."
