Sainz: “In Toro Rosso I will demonstrate who I really am”

Carlos Sainz continues to be at the center of market rumors. Many claim that the driver has made important contacts with Renault to change teams next year.

The driver himself denied everything and, in a recent interview with Auto Hebdo, spoke of an imminent renewal with Toro Rosso: "I think that if Red Bull rushed to renew my contract it was only to stop these voices. I am very happy to be appreciated and I am proud of it. In the history of Toro Rosso there have not been too many drivers whose contracts have been renewed so quickly."

The Spaniard welcomed the possibility of remaining in his current team: “I'm only 22 years old. We could say that Bottas and Hulkenberg are trapped in their team, but not me. Another season in Toro Rosso will not ruin my career, on the contrary, it will allow me to demonstrate who I really am."

The prospects are also quite attractive with Sainz confirming the great work of the engineers and designers and the concrete possibility that the 2017 car will be much closer to Red Bull than what happened this season.

A word also on the situation of his teammate, Daniil Kvyat: “His is not the first example that shows how tough the world of F1 can be. Daniil is a very talented rider, in recent years we have often fought together and I know what he can do. He may have lost a little confidence but he will definitely come back”.
