Rosberg: “Webber apologized for the accident in Korea”
Nico Rosberg has revealed that Mark Webber apologized after causing the crash and his retirement in Korea. A controversy arose immediately after the impact: Rosberg had called Webber "crazy" for not having braked after hitting the wall following a mistake in the wet. Those comments probably prompted Gerhard Berger to declare that Webber, in his opinion, actually wanted to knock out one of his title rivals.
The controversy obviously resurfaced on Thursday when the paddock met in full at Interlagos for the Thursday press conferences of the Brazilian GP.
“He may have his opinion, but it's ridiculous,” Webber told the Kleine Zeitung.
French commentator Jean-Louis Moncet said he spoke to Rosberg about the incident: “He made a mistake, he knew he could lose the title at that moment, he was thinking of something else…he came to me and apologized in the afternoon” declared the Mercedes driver.
“And I don't accuse him, it's the racing. End of story,” added Rosberg.
Webber called it "a little strange" that Berger's comments aired on a channel owned by Red Bull.
Christian Horner denied any possible connection: "What he said is not Red Bull's position, it's not the team's vision, it's just Gerhard Berger's opinion."
