Rosberg: “Hamilton did a better job”
The Mercedes German will start second at the Spanish GP
Nico Rosberg is forced to admit the truth: Lewis Hamilton it was better than him.
And he does so without hiding his disappointment in the press conference, aware however that he has a true champion as a teammate, with whom he will certainly continue to battle until the end of the season.
Rosberg remained ahead of the British driver for the entire time of Qualifying and when he seemed to have put his signature on pole position, Lewis arrived to snatch it from his hands with just a few minutes to go.
“I'm not satisfied with second place,” he said Rosberg. “I don't like being behind Lewis. I'm definitely disappointed, yes. But the truth is, he simply did a better job than me."
The growing rivalry between the two Mercedes drivers, and perhaps the superiority of Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel, is one of the most popular topics in the paddock, but Nico has no intention of giving up and putting an end to his chances of beating Hamilton.
“Tomorrow I can still play it all. Second place is just a little further back… all I need is a good start and I'll be back in the lead. That's the good news."
“Today was not an ideal day but the race will be long and anything is possible,” continued the driver leading in the general classification. “Tire degradation will be a key factor in the race so we will need to manage them as best we can.”
Despite the superiority demonstrated once again by the Silver Arrows, Rosberg does not believe that the detachment of Mercedes on rivals has increased. “I wouldn't say we've made further progress, rather that we've managed to maintain our existing lead and that's an achievement in itself.”
“I'm very happy about this because our goal is to move further away, hoping that our opponents don't get too close.”
