Rosberg and Schumi: “If it rains in the race it won't make a difference for us”

Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher confess they would be happy even if the wet conditions were to continue throughout the weekend at the British Grand Prix.

The 26-year-old Mercedes driver concluded this afternoon's second free practice session in fourth position, 222 thousandths behind pacesetter Lewis Hamilton and behind teammate Michael Schumacher. The son of the great Keke believes that the step forward made by the team between the morning and the afternoon shows that the team is moving in the right direction. “Our car seems to be fine, so from my point of view it can even rain, there wouldn't be any problems for us”, Rosberg said. “Overall, it was a good day and very productive. We have improved the car a lot since this morning and in similar conditions it was much faster, so I'm quite satisfied. So it can rain tomorrow, there won't be any problem.", the German explained.

Michael Schumacher was also satisfied with the behavior of Mercedes, which maintained good performances in both sessions and which led him to finish in third place, exactly two tenths behind Hamilton. “We had reasonably stable conditions in both FP1 and FP2”, explained the seven-time world champion. “There was too much water on the circuit at the start of FP2 but in the end the track wasn't bad for attempting fast laps. Even if it's difficult to ride like this, it's good for us: this way you get used to the track, because the rain could also fall during the race on Sunday.", concluded Schumi.
