ROC | Mick Schumacher on the Nations Cup: “A great experience shared with Vettel”
"He did a fantastic job, without him we wouldn't have reached the final," underlined the German
Even though the victory ended in the end, Mick Schumacher however, he can be satisfied with his first participation in the Nations Cup held yesterday in the Foro Sol of the Mexico City Autodrome which opened the two-day 2019 edition of the Race of Champions.
Paired with Sebastian Vettel to represent Team Germany, the German - in his "first" as a Ferrari driver - played excellent matches, only giving up in the tie-break of the final against the Dane Tom Kristensen, thus allowing Team Nordic to win the trophy.
"It was a great experience and it was special to share it with Sebastian – said Mick -. He did a fantastic job and without him we wouldn't have made it to the final. We are happy to have played a good Nations Cup. We did well, not enough to get the win, but second place isn't bad".
The reigning European F3 champion then added: “It's great for Mexican fans to see so many drivers of different nationalities. There was a lot to do, but I was happy to have battled against some legendary riders until the final. During a race against Helio Castroneves I took my sister Gina on board as a passenger. I guess it brought me a bit of luck because I won, I was happy to win with her too. Now we can focus our attention on the competition of tomorrow's champions (today, ed.)”.
