Roberto Merhi in talks to become a Renault test driver
The Spaniard could join Esteban Ocon in the role of test driver
Roberto Merhi, fourteen GPs with Manor in 2015, is trying in every way to stay in the Circus, even in the secondary role of tester. The Spaniard admitted some time ago that he is in contact with some teams and that he is confident about his stay in Formula 1, even in a reserve role.
For him the doors of Manor Racing seem closed, considering that the English Mercedes-powered team has effectively put its seats up for sale, which will go to the drivers who demonstrate that they have the best sponsors. Currently competing for the Manor wheel are Rio Haryanto, Alexander Rossi, Will Stevens and Pascal Wehrlein.
According to the Spanish newspaper TrademarksOn the other hand, Merhi could soon join Renault, where he would increase the number of test drivers, alongside the talented Frenchman Esteban Ocon (the team's third driver in 2016) and the image tester Carmen Jorda.
