Regrets and disappointment at Toro Rosso

Ricciardo finishes 12th, Vergne is forced to retire

Regrets and disappointment at Toro Rosso

Regrets and disappointments remain in the area Toro Rosso at the end of the European Grand Prix held in Valencia, as the two drivers explain, Daniel Ricciardo e Jean-Eric Vergne.

“The end result is disappointing. I think I drove well and the team deserved better – declares Ricciardo who finishes the European Grand Prix 13th -. I had a really good race, I managed some overtaking. My first stint went well and I was close to our rivals, the second was also good."

“The Safety Car, however, didn't work in our favor - continues the Toro Rosso driver -. After my second stop I pushed to the end and I had Petrov who was very slow in front of me. I tried to overtake him but he defended himself by going a little wide. So I tried to go back underneath: maybe I gave him a little space, maybe he was a little too aggressive. In any case it cost me the chance to get into the points, but there were some positive aspects of this race, even if they are not so visible from the outside.", he concludes.

“It's a real shame not to finish the race while I was finding my rhythm – explains Vergne -. It was my first retirement of the season. Regarding the accident with Heikki, I felt ahead and when I started to turn we touched and his front wing hit my rear wheel. There was too much debris on the track and it was impossible to change the damaged rear wheel so there was no way for me to continue. I think it was just a racing accident.", glosses.
