Renault on Magnussen-Maldonado: “No one can know what will happen until Australia”
A Renault spokesperson spoke to the BBC about the rumors regarding the change between the two drivers
As we have already written A sensational market turnaround is looming in Renault, with the Dane Kevin Magnussen kept warm and ready to take over from Pastor Maldonado if the Venezuelan driver, former Williams and starter at Enstone for the last two years, lacks the financial support of the munificent oil sponsor PDVSA, a Venezuelan state company involved in some scandals and linked to the political fate of the South American country. Apparently PDVSA is already late with some payments due to the team as sponsors.
A Renault spokesperson indirectly confirmed that Maldonado's job is therefore not secure: “For now, those about Magnussen are only speculation - the Renault man declared to the BBC, but added in a cryptic manner - The certain thing is that we have a contract with Pastor, but no one can know what will happen until the Australian GP..."
