Renault, Sirotkin confirmed for Barcelona and Silverstone tests

Sergey Sirotkin's experience in Renault during free practice for the Russian Grand Prix will not remain a mere isolated case. The Russian driver driven by SMP Racing, in fact, will continue to collaborate with the French Scuderia for the rest of the season, taking care of the developments on the simulator and covering the role of "development driver". As stated by Frederic Vasseur yesterday, in fact, Sirotkin could return aboard the RS16 already during the next tests in Barcelona and Silverstone, increasing his experience aboard a Formula One car. We would like to remind you that the Russian driver has already held this role at Sauber, but did not accumulate good mileage on the track due to the Swiss team's many financial problems.

Vasseur also explained that in addition to the two in-season test sessions, Sirotkin could take to the track for some FP1 sessions during the season finale. Here are the words of the Renault Team Principal: “First he will have to do a day of testing outside of a race weekend and then return to driving during FP1 at the end of the season. But first he will have to concentrate on GP2. Yesterday he did a great job and we are happy with what he is doing in the simulator. He will be able to give us a great hand."
