Renault: decision on Piquet's future postponed

Nelson Piquet Jr will have to wait until the end of September to find out whether he will remain at Renault in 2009. According to Auto Motor und Sport, the French team has agreed with the driver's management to move the deadline for using the option of the Brazilian's contract, originally scheduled for August.

Recently Fernando Alonso, Piquet's teammate, declared that he will decide on his stay in Renault by the autumn. If the Spaniard leaves, Roman Grosjean would be the favorite to replace him. In any case, the 22-year-old would also be in the running for the possible seat left by Piquet.
