Renault: Piquet remains on track and Di Grassi replaces Alonso

On the final day of the Jerez tests, Nelson Piquet remained at the wheel of the R28-02 for the third consecutive day, while Lucas Di Grassi returned to the cockpit of the R28-01, replacing Fernando Alonso for the final day.

Both drivers worked on balancing the car, with Nelson concentrating on long runs in the afternoon, covering a total of 134 laps (the best in 1'19.817). For Di Grassi, who had some small problems in the morning, 73 laps in total (1'21.286).

Nelson Piquet:
"Another day that gave me satisfaction, with many kilometers travelled. Obviously we worked hard to improve the car as much as possible and we are seeing the results of the intense activity carried out at the factory on the track. The many important data collected today will be now analyzed by the technicians, in preparation for next week's test in Barcelona. Overall, three excellent days for me and now I feel better prepared to face the physical demands of Formula 1."

Lucas Di Grassi:
"We spent the day testing many different components, so the priority wasn't looking for performance but understanding how these parts work on the car. There has been some progress and so I'm satisfied with how it went. Overall, my two days It was a great experience here in Jerez and I was really impressed with the R28. I feel like I'm improving every time I drive the car and I'm looking forward to working with the team again."

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer:
"We maintained the program planned for Nelson by working on the set-up in the morning, and then covering a race distance in the afternoon, without any particular problems with the car. We also worked on the set-ups with Lucas in the first part of the day, but we had a bit ' problems that slowed us down a bit. In the afternoon, however, everything went well and we conducted some tests on the brakes: Lucas gave us good feedback and we collected important data."
