Renault, Palmer over the moon: “Honoured by the confirmation”

From rags to riches in the space of a few weeks: no one would have bet on Jolyon Palmer staying in Renault and yet the Englishman, former GP2 champion, will sit alongside Nico Hulkenberg during the next season. Jolyon commented positively on the confirmation to Viry Chatillion, underlining how it is an extreme honor for him to remain part of the French team. Jérôme Stoll, president of Renault Sport Racing, is of the same opinion, explaining that the new line-up guarantees talent and experience.

Here are the words of Jolyon Palmer: “I'm over the moon. Racing another season with the Renault team will be a fantastic experience and I can't wait to throw myself into work for 2017. I'm sure that the collaboration with Nico will bring great things to the whole team and we certainly want to experience a championship with completely different expectations from what is about to end. I've been working at Enstone since 2015 and I know how cutting edge we are when it comes to infrastructure: I'm learning a lot in the last few Grands Prix and we're sure we can still improve. I'm happy and racing with the colors of this team will be an honor."

Jérôme Stoll, president of Renault Sport Racing, is of the same opinion: “We are confident that the combination of Jolyon and Nico will give us great satisfaction for 2017. Jolyon's learning curve surprised us in this final part of the season and confirming it for 2017 was relatively simple. We are happy with his stay in the team and we will try to do our utmost to bring the Renault brand back to where it deserves, which is to say at the top of Formula One. I wish Kevin the best for his future."
