La Grandeur aims to get its first points of this season already in China

Renault, Frederic Vasseur: “Ours is a long-term project”

A step at a time. After returning to the premier class of motorsport as a constructor, taking over from Lotus, Renault aims to return to the top within a few years. As the leaders of the transalpine team have explained several times, the project includes a three-year plan. The primary objective in 2016 is to return to scoring points in F1. A narrowly missed opportunity in both Melbourne and Sakhir.

"Ours is a long-term project, but that doesn't mean we will sit back and wait for results to rain from the sky – declared the director of the Renault racing department Frederic Vasseur –. We know that it will be unlikely to get on the podium or win races this year. But these are goals that we would like to achieve in the future. Of course we are determined to achieve the best results in every race. We want both our drivers to give their all, whether it's fighting for places of honor or for mid-table places. Only in this way can we make the leap in quality".

"The start of the season impressed me. We are where we expected to be – said Vasseur – . That's not to say there aren't improvements to be made. In car racing every little detail makes the difference. By taking small but constant steps forward we will climb positions in the rankings".
