Renault F1: Away from Bahrain with just one point
Fernando Alonso (POS 8):
“We did our best today. The start of the race was perfect and we didn't lose any positions. Nothing unusual happened in the race and no retirements in the top positions. We only scored one point and therefore we need to improve at the next GP.”
Nelson Piquet (POS 10):
I had a good race and the car worked well. It would have been better if I had done the first stint shorter and the second stint longer, but overall I'm satisfied. Now we need to focus on improving our performance for the next race.”
Flavio Briatore, Renault managing director:
“We had higher expectations for this weekend, but unfortunately we go home with only one point. Fernando did not have a good start and this compromised his entire race despite his best efforts. Nelson had an excellent race, moving from 15th to 10th with aggressive and consistent driving. It's a shame he didn't get any points.”
