Renault still directly involved in F1

Renault is still interested in the Formula One team that bears its name, according to Eric Boullier, the team principal appointed by Genii Capital. The investment company acquired the majority of the shares of the French team at the end of last year but from Enstone the president of Renault, Carlos Ghosn, continues to demand a periodic meeting to always be informed of the team's progress.

“There are regular meetings where Ghosn is informed about everything related to the team, this is a very positive sign,” Boullier said.

However, it is excluded that Renault wants to buy back the majority of the team.

The team has not yet decided who will be the second driver for 2011. Petrov is under examination and will have the end of the season to demonstrate that he deserves the seat while negotiations with Raikkonen appear to be at a standstill. Boullier says Raikkonen is quite motivated but at the moment he doesn't see a concrete intention to return, while talks with Heidfeld and Sutil are currently at a standstill. Then he added: "..let's put it this way, we don't have direct contact at the moment and no door is open, but they told us that it could be opened in certain circumstances."
