Renault: Alonso announces aggressive tactics, Piquet hopes for rain

"Qualifying in Monaco is more important than on any other track and our objective today was to get to Q3. It is very difficult to overtake but I think it will be a fairly open race and since we are not fighting for the championship we can have an aggressive approach and take some risks. It will be a competitive race, that's for sure, we just have to wait and see what the weather is like."

"I'm very disappointed. I had a small problem with the brakes in Q1 and I didn't have the right pace. The car was very sensitive, but we saw that Fernando improved gradually during the session, which makes it even more frustrating for me. A race at the back of the grid is always difficult, especially in Monaco, but I will give my all tomorrow, even though my only real chance is rain, which would mix things up."

"It wasn't an easy day with this morning's weather which gave us very little time to finish the work we had to do. As a result we went into qualifying without even being sure which tire was the best for the session. Nelson suffered from the short time on the track, while Fernando did a superb job once again and his position on the grid is a great credit to him, I think we can have a solid race tomorrow. Now we have to wait for what the weather will bring us."
