Red Bull, Webber: “Changes to the rules are not a concern”

Mark Webber says the ban on changing engine maps between qualifying and the race is not expected to have much practical effect.

“I don't think it will make any car faster,” Webber said during a press conference on the eve of the European Grand Prix.

“It will be the same for everyone. We just need to adapt to the changes.”

“Our team is working to adapt to the change in regulations.”

The Red Bull driver also questioned whether the timing of the rule changes will cost teams a lot of money to adapt.

“There's always something fluctuating in our sport,” he said. “Obviously it would be very profitable to know this before the season starts, however, we are all in the same boat. We are not overly concerned. It is not an economic exercise to adapt to the new rules."

But the Australian says fans won't care too much about the changes, because they just want to see exciting racing.

“I think most fans are not that worried, they want to see what they saw this year – good car racing. They have 10-15% knowledge of what is happening behind the scenes, only the hardcore fans, they know a little more, but the fans want to see a good race.”

“The politics in the background will always be there, but if they are making these decisions, there is some reason.”
