Red Bull: one point for Vettel in Monza, retirement for Webber

Sebastian scored a point in Monza, finishing eighth. He only entered the points at the end of the race, after Lewis Hamilton crashed on the last lap. Mark's race, however, ended significantly early, on the first lap, after a collision which forced him to retire.

Car no. 15 – Sebastian Vettel. Final position: 8th. Starting position: 9th
“I think I started well and did a good first lap, but then I couldn't keep up with the cars in front. The first five to ten laps were the most difficult, when I was really in crisis with the lack of grip and I was sliding everywhere, losing ground. Overall, we lacked speed and this is probably not the most congenial track for our car. For the next races, we will put back more load, and maybe it will go better. We will see. The championship is not over and our goal is to do our best, possibly winning races and the Championship. I will focus on this goal. The rest is not our responsibility."

Car no. 14 – Mark Webber. Final position: – . Starting position: 10th
“I started quite well and tried to tackle the first variant in the best possible way. I had Sebastian in front of me, so I was driving very cleanly to avoid any contact with him. We both came out of that first chicane without any problems, and I was still behind him even going into the second one when I had a race accident with Robert Kubica. It seems that his right front wheel got stuck in front of my left rear one. It certainly wasn't easy for me to see him. We hit each other and this caused my car to take off slightly and head off in the direction of the guard rail. The car had no damage, but I wasn't able to get back on the track. I couldn't do anything else nor had I been able to avoid the accident. Retiring so early due to a small accident is frustrating, especially when the guys in the pits have done such a great job to prepare the car. It's not a great situation for the Drivers' Championship either, but it's also my first 'unclassified' of the season. We will make up for it by doing our best in the remaining races."

Christian Horner, Team Leader: “It was a disappointing start to the race, as Mark was knocked out by a BMW, while Sebastian then lost a lot of time in the first part of the race, behind Kubica, who had a damaged front wing. So, we were lucky enough to score a point thanks to Lewis Hamilton's accident at the end of the race. Unfortunately, we were not competitive enough today. It was probably our worst performance of the season, on a track that highlighted some of our shortcomings. Fortunately, the paths that will follow should be more favorable."

Fabrice Lom, Renault Chief Engineer, Track Management: “This is truly a disappointing result. Scoring just one point with one car and a DNF with the other is a really bad result for us. Especially since Brawn scored a double: congratulations to them, but our result is like a yellow card, hard to digest. The situation is becoming difficult now in both championships, but we are certainly not giving up. There are four races left and we will fight to the end."
