Red Bull, Ricciardo and Horner: “Our chassis is as strong as the Mercedes one”
The two convinced that with a more powerful engine Red Bull could have won races
Red Bull's new attack on the French Renault, with Daniel Ricciardo and Chris Horner once again blaming the lack of competitiveness of the RB11 on the limited power of the transalpine engine.
Ricciardo complimented the men of the team, comforted by the goodness of the aerodynamics of the single-seater:
“It was frustrating, because if we had had more power I would have won races – The Australian said – But I'm happy with the work of the guys in the team and the fact that we have an excellent chassis. On the one hand it is gratifying to know that you have a single-seater as efficient as the Mercedes. The team worked very well, at the beginning of the year we didn't have the fastest car, the chassis had some deficiencies, but we were perfect in doing it all over again and bringing it to Mercedes levels."
The words of team principal Horner are of the same tone: "We are calm because comparing our cornering speed with that of the Mercedes I can assure you that we were always there in terms of times. The frame is very performing. Our chassis, on every occasion and in every sector where there were no straights, showed itself at the level of Mercedes."
