Red Bull, Ricciardo comments on the new Renault power unit: "Remarkable step forward"

At the end of the first day of in-season testing on the Barcelona track, Daniel Ricciardo expressed his opinion on the second specification of power unit brought by Renault to the Montmelo track. The Australian commented positively on the evolutions brought to the track by the French engineer, underlining the enormous step forward in terms of horsepower compared to the first evolution currently in use under the Tag Heuer name. It remains to be seen now whether the RB12s of Ricciardo and Verstappen will be equipped with the new drive unit as early as the next Monaco Grand Prix.

Here are the words of Daniel Ricciardo: “Renault has done a great job in terms of development and the difference with the old unit is quite noticeable. We have carried out various tests and the feedback on the track has been positive, especially in terms of horsepower. Now we will decide whether to bring the new specification to Munich, but the final say will certainly be up to our supplier"
