Red Bull, Ricciardo: “By increasing the grip our performance will improve”
Despite the accident in FP1, the Australian managed to get on track in free practice 2
After hitting the wall near turn 15 during free practice 1, also causing the red flag, Daniel Ricciardo set the 2th fastest time in FP10 of the European GP. Despite a less than exciting Friday, the Australian is confident in the increase in grip over the weekend to improve his performance.
The driver from Perth joked about the accident in which he was involved in the morning: “For me it was an honor to have named that curve first – the joke of the Australian on Sky Sports UK microphones – . Jokes aside, I was going too fast and contact with the barriers was inevitable. I entered the corner too fast. The fault of the accident is mine alone."
Turning serious again, Ricciardo commented on Friday in Baku as follows: “The team worked hard to allow me to return to the track in second free practice and I was able to complete 32 laps. Unfortunately today we weren't fast enough. I'm sure that if we had found the grip we were missing right away, our performances would certainly have been better. The circuit is interesting. Inevitably the track will change, becoming rubberized between tomorrow and Sunday".
