Red Bull, Marko: “FOTA is now useless”. Today new meeting between the association's teams

Red Bull chose to abandon FOTA, the alliance of Formula 1 teams, because the association had no longer been useful. This is the opinion of Helmut Marko, consultant for Red Bull motorsport.

Ferrari and Red Bull confirmed their decision to exit FOTA on Friday, officially due to disagreements over the Resource Restriction Agreement (RRA) to contain F1 costs.

“Over the last 12 months it has not been at all clear what the usefulness of FOTA was,” said Red Bull team boss Christian Horner.

Marko agreed: “If in meetings we cannot agree even on minor issues, we have to ask ourselves what the point of all these efforts is”.

For some, leaving FOTA will allow Red Bull and Ferrari to negotiate advantageous contracts with Ecclestone in view of the new Concorde Agreement.

Meanwhile, today FOTA will reunite with the surviving teams.
