Red Bull, Kvyat sixth: "A bit of a crazy race, I had fun"

La Red Bull comes out of the (half) Silverstone lottery with a better result than expected. Daniil Kvyat was the author of an excellent race right from the start when, starting from seventh position, he managed to overtake Vettel's Ferraris, although the Prancing Horse driver then managed to overtake him.

Kvyat, however, does not give up, it is the day, and in the most excited phases he manages to exploit the damp track to nibble away at direct competitor Nico Hulkenberg, who was then preceded at the finish line by fifteen seconds. The final sixth place is a deserved prize for the Russian, protagonist of a positive weekend on a "motor" track, not ideal for his single-seater. Even Kvyat could have overcome a Valtteri Bottas in difficulty in the rain without a flaw in the wet.

Daniil Kvyat, 6th: "Today we were really competitive and the race was fun, a little crazy when it rained. The team worked at its best and the car performed well. We must continue to push in this direction in the next races too."

Disappointment, however, for the Australian Daniel Ricciardo, forced to retire on the twentieth lap due to problems with the hybrid part of the engine. Daniel, this time, doesn't smile: “I wanted to have a good weekend but things went all wrong. We suffered an electronics problem that caused a sharp drop in power, I couldn't do anything but retire. The last few races have been really tough for me, but that's how racing is. Now we have to use these three weeks to develop the car and understand the mistakes, then we will go to Hungary with a little more confidence, given that the track should suit the RB11 better."

Christian Horner (team principal): “The weather gave the fans a good show. Daniil had a great race, perhaps if we were a little more reactive when the water hit we could have made him compete for the podium with Vettel. However, the excellent sixth place remains. However, we feel sorry for Daniel, he had an ERS problem which forced him to stop”.
