Raikkonen: “Positive feelings”

Kimi Raikkonen – Shortly afterwards his teammate Sebastian Vettel was also among the guests at the inaugural FIA press conference Kimi Raikkonen met the media in front of the Scuderia Ferrari pits in the Albert Park paddock in Melbourne.

“It's a new season, a new year and we're starting from scratch. We'll see how it goes" were the first words of the Scuderia Ferrari driver. “Over the winter the team did an excellent job and the new car has improved in every way. As a team we work well together and it was a good winter. Overall the sensations are positive and I believe that this year we will arrive better prepared. What if we can get what we want? Only time will tell. We still have a lot to do to get where we want, but compared to where we finished last year we can be satisfied after the tests."

Regarding his level of competitiveness, Kimi is uncompromising: “We have to wait until Sunday. There's no point in guessing whether in two days we'll have an idea of where we are. We have to wait to understand how we go from race to race, on different circuits."

Regarding this first weekend, Kimi wanted to underline how unrepresentative Albert Park is compared to most tracks. “This is not a traditional circuit, it is the first race of the season and usually a lot can happen here. The weather can be unpredictable, but I hope all is well. We will try to give our best in the race, then we'll see. Tomorrow we will see how the car behaves and we will go from there. I hope to have similar sensations to those recorded in the tests and not have any problems. In this way we should obtain a good result, but now it is impossible to say exactly where we will be."

Finally questioned about the accident that occurred to his former teammate, Fernando Alonso, and the fact of having to miss a race, Kimi declared: "For him it's not ideal and nobody likes to see someone get hurt . I hope you come back soon. Unfortunately this is part of the game. You can get hurt, have problems and even lose a race."
