Raikkonen: “Qualifying a bit disappointing”

The Finn is not happy with 5th place on the grid in Hungary

Raikkonen: “Qualifying a bit disappointing”

Kimi Raikkonen is not at all satisfied with his grid position at the Hungarian GP. Despite finishing fifth in qualifying, the Finn is disappointed that teammate Romain Grosjean's Lotus is on the front row, a sign that that placement was possible.

“Certainly not a bad performance in qualifying, let's be clear, but it's a bit disappointing to finish in fifth place”, commented the former Ferrari driver. “I didn't go faster when it mattered. The car seems good in terms of pace, but I didn't have the decisive lap at the right time. Now let's see what happens tomorrow, let's hope we can fight with the leaders", he said laconically.

Alan Permane, race engineer from the Enstone team, explains that the Lotus improved greatly in qualifying and that Kimi's objective was the front row. “It's nice to be on the front row, it was a good day for all our riders”, said the English coach. “Everything was perfect with Romain, while we would have been happy to have seen Kimi a little higher up the grid, in particular his Q2 time was better than the one he achieved in Q3. But overall it's been a great weekend so far: let's hope it continues like this tomorrow. Our goal was to improve our performance in qualifying, and today we clearly demonstrated this.", insisted Permane.
