Raikkonen: “I'm not satisfied, but it doesn't take much to improve”
Grosjean: "The Lotus suffers from low temperatures"
Lotus was the big disappointment on the first day of testing at the Canadian GP. Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen ended both FP1 and FP2 outside the Top 10, well clear of leader Hamilton.
“Today was my first time at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and I really enjoyed it”, explained Grosjean, who still did a few tenths better than his renowned teammate. “But it's not an easy track, and the weather wasn't what we expect for the rest of the weekend: we didn't go well. Let's hope the race can be held in warmer conditions. We spent a lot of time learning the behavior of the car here and trying a couple of different things with the setup. We have a good amount of data, but obviously we need to work tomorrow hoping for higher temperatures. The car felt good and we did a few laps on the supersoft tyres, so overall it was a pretty useful day and not an entirely bad one.", the French closed.
The Finn is also not satisfied with the configuration choices: “It wasn't a good day for us”, commented Raikkonen. “We were expecting rain in the afternoon so we used the supersoft tires in the morning to make sure we could do some long runs, and we completed everything we needed to do today. However, I am not 100% satisfied with my setup and I think we are missing something somewhere. It's not a big deal, but I know we can go faster. Let's see how it goes tomorrow, something can happen and I hope it's a little warmer because it seems like it could help our car.", concluded the Finn.
