Raikkonen: “Positive day, there is still room for improvement”

Fourth time for Kimi Raikkonen in the second free practice session on Friday of the Singapore GP. Despite some technical problems, the Finn said he was satisfied with his Ferrari.

“Today was a positive day overall, even if – as always – there is room for improvement” commented Raikkonen. “In the first session we dedicated ourselves to studying different set-up solutions and with the first set of Soft tires I managed to do a good lap, then unfortunately some technical problems prevented me from making the most of the second set. At the end of the session I had a problem with the brakes overheating, but the team managed to find a solution quickly and prepare the car for the second session. The changes made to the set-up improved the car's behavior and with the Supersoft tires there was good grip."

“The Marina Bay circuit is always very demanding, both for the drivers and the technicians, here – among other things – busy dealing with extremely particular weather conditions” added Pat Fry. “The one just concluded on the track was not a perfect Friday, we had to manage some problems related to reliability, especially on Kimi's car, even if the results more or less reflected expectations. This track puts the cooling of the various components of the car to the test and - on the performance front - the traction when exiting corners. As normally happens on street circuits, grip will improve significantly over the weekend and for this reason it will be important to understand the performance of the tyres. The difference between the Soft and Supersoft compound is perhaps greater than expected, and I am sure that this aspect will make both qualifying and the race very interesting. Even if Friday's times count for little and it's always difficult to string together a series of clean laps here due to traffic, the pace of our drivers is encouraging. In Singapore it is very difficult to overtake and it will be very important to obtain the maximum result in qualifying to facilitate the progress of the race."
