Raikkonen world champion: McLaren's appeal request rejected

The FIA Court of Appeal has rejected the request presented by McLaren to exclude BMW and Williams from the finishing line of the Brazilian Grand Prix, due to an alleged irregularity linked to the temperature of the petrol put into the tanks. Consequently, Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen was confirmed as the 2007 world champion, the validity of the ranking expressed in last month's Interlagos race having been reaffirmed.

In particular, after two days of palpable tension, McLaren's appeal was considered formally "inadmissible" by the four judges appointed by the FIA, who therefore indirectly ended up confirming the thesis of the race commissioners present in Brazil, according to whom the objective uncertainties on actual temperatures compared to those measured are so evident that BMW and Williams are not considered punishable.
