Prost: “I'm happy that Renault is back in F1”

Today in Guyancour, during the presentation ceremony of Renault - the first team of the lot to present the 2016 single-seater -, Alain Prost was also present. Compared to the rumors circulated in the last months of 2015, the Professore – with the transalpine team he came close to winning the title in 1983, only to then win it three times with McLaren and once with Williams – he will not hold any technical role but will continue to be an ambassador for the Renault brand.

In Formula E, the former French driver runs e.drams with Jean-Paul Driot, the team that won the constructors' title last season. The agreement for the supply of engines and gearboxes between the Le Mans team and Renault was renewed for another two seasons.

“I am satisfied with how Renault has presented its resources,” Prost explained to F1i.com "The agreements in Formula E make me very happy and I cannot be present on all fronts. From the beginning I said I didn't want an operational role in F1".

"I can't be everywhere and I'm not someone who likes to do things halfway . I will witness more Grand Prix, continuing my collaboration with Canal +. I am very happy with Renault's return to F1. I especially think back to the days before the last race of last season in Abu Dhabi, where a certain pessimism was circulating. Luckily the final talks with the FOM led to white smoke and I couldn't help but rejoice", concluded Prost.
