Prost: “It's not impossible to beat Mercedes”

Mercedes' excessive power could be numbered. This is the ambassador's hope Renault Alain Prost who, speaking to Autosport, did not rule out the possibility of a next turnaround.

“When you find yourself faced with such dominance it is always difficult to impose yourself but not impossible if you are able to create a good package – his thoughts – In the end I wasn't surprised by the way the season went, in fact it was quite inevitable given that the Germans had started developing the engine three years earlier while we were fighting to achieve the various constructors' and drivers' titles. It is therefore obvious that it was more difficult for our brand to organize itself from scratch, change the approach and production method of the drive unit, not to mention that they also had the advantage of taking care of the chassis, creating a perfectly integrated product".

Then on the probable changes to the rules on engine freezing he concluded: "By maintaining this course we would end up destroying the sport, however if we were to give full freedom of intervention the costs would rise significantly, so a compromise will have to be found."

  • Lucid and realistic analysis! It should be the only way forward, in the interests of Formula 1. A Mercedes formula, the only result of this senseless regulation, would lead to the end of the circus in a short time!
