Financial problems for the Renault F1 team?

The Renault F1 team is reportedly in financial difficulty. According to the magazine AUto Motor und Sport the Enstone team, renamed Lotus Renault GP at the beginning of this season, is experiencing a difficult time.

The dispute over the Lotus name, which ended in favor of Tony Fernandes who will be able to continue using the Team Lotus name, "came at the wrong time" we read in the article in the German magazine.

“Not as much money is coming from Russia as expected. And since Robert Kubica's accident the interest of the other sponsors has disappeared."

The team also has a debt of several tens of millions of euros with Renault, the supplier of the engines.

“Genii Capital is begging sponsor Lotus for an advance for the day-to-day management of the team and for the development of the car” we read in Auto Motor und Sport.

“There are rumors in the paddock of a switch to Cosworth engines for next year if the debts with Renault are not paid off. And the French company is looking for another customer. Why not Williams?”.
