Pirelli wants to monitor the tires in the race

Pirelli is studying the possibility of introducing an innovative system to monitor tire pressure in real time. The racing manager admits it Mario isola, ready to do everything possible to make checks more thorough.

During 2016 there were numerous controversies over tire operating pressure, with the manufacturer tightening its controls given the arrival of the new and larger tires next season.

“We need a different way to ensure that teams are following our prescriptions – Isola told UOL – until now we have been able to control the initial pressures, but not what happens afterwards”.

In fact, there were numerous rumors that spoke of teams capable of studying systems to reduce pressure during the race, with Pirelli trying in every way to take action.

“Of course we are interested in tire pressure in the race, so if we find a way to monitor it in real time, the checks will be much more accurate and it will be better for everyone.”
