Pirelli interested in having Schumacher as a test driver

Pirelli is interested in having Michael Schumacher as a test driver next season. After yesterday's announcement by the German of his new retirement from F1 at the end of the season, Pirelli has made it known that it wants the seven-time world champion to develop its tires in 2013.

Paul Hembery, head of Motorsport at Pirelli, said he is evaluating the various options for next year should Jaime Alguersuari get a starting place: “I think Schumacher is the most experienced tire tester in the history of Formula 1 " has explained.

“If he gets bored being in the mountains in Switzerland, I'm sure we can find something for him to do, although we don't have 20 million for him. So it would be a job done out of passion rather than for financial gain."
Although Schumacher criticized Pirelli at the beginning of the year, Hembery said the company has rediscovered a good relationship with the German: “He also did some Superbike races with us, and we also race in rallies and GT. Kimi (Raikkonen, ed.) has used our tires in rallies and Robert (Kubica, ed.) is also doing the same, so maybe Michael wants to try something different. We are open. If Michael is interested, we are open to offers."
