Pirelli: The Silverstone circuit from a tire point of view

Pirelli is preparing to tackle one of the symbolic circuits of Formula One: Silverstone. Among the fastest and most demanding of the year for tyres, due to the abrasive surface and the length of the lap, second only to that of Spa-Francorchamps, the English track will see the combination of P Zero Silver hard and P Zero Yellow tires soft (even if the unpredictability of the weather, typical of the area, could call the Cinturato Green intermediate and the Cinturato Blue wet to the track).

A very demanding circuit for the tyres, it features both slow corners and very fast corners.
The powerful lateral accelerations maintained for prolonged periods stress the internal structure which is subjected to continuous compensation work.

Curve 6-7
From 250 to 95 km/h by delaying the braking point inside the curve.
The front tires are subjected to a combined longitudinal-transverse acceleration which requires the maximum level of grip.
Change of trajectory, violent load transfer on the external tires involved in both steering and traction to guarantee maximum exit acceleration with wide open throttle.

Curve 9
At 290 km/h which generates a monumental lateral acceleration of 5g

Fastest straight line with 300mph tip.
The pilot prepares for a rapid sequence of maneuvers.
Breakaway, insertion, curve setting in 2 seconds and speed dropping to 200 per hour.
Aerodynamic load, g force and disconnection of the surface produce high mechanical stresses on the carcass and thermal stresses on the tread which exceeds 110°.
Bump and aggressive asphalt.

Pirelli offers soft and hard specifications that ensure the best combination of performance and durability to best address the critical issues of this circuit.
