F1 | Pirelli announces the tires for the French Grand Prix
Ferrari and Mercedes bring 9 sets of ultrasofts. More conservative Red Bull
Pirelli has just announced the sets of tires available for each driver for the French Grand Prix, which will take place in two weeks at the Paul Ricard circuit. As previously communicated, the compounds available will be Ultrasoft (purple band), Supersoft (red band) and Soft (yellow band).
As has already happened on other occasions, the most aggressive team was Williams, which for the French Grand Prix decided to bring 10 sets of ultrasof tyres, the softest compound that Pirelli will make available in two weeks. As far as the top teams are concerned, identical choices between Ferrari and Mercedes, with 9 sets of ultrasoft tyres: as regards the other two compounds, the drivers of the two teams have differentiated their choices, with Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton having 3 at their disposal sets of supersoft and only 1 set of soft, while Kimi Raikkonen and Valtteri Bottas will have 2 sets available in each compound.
Red Bull is more conservative, having decided to bring only 7 sets of the ultrasoft compound, in order to have 3 sets available each for the supersoft and soft.
