Piquet: "Briatore's criticisms are positive"

Nelson Piquet Jr declared that he now understood Flavio Briatore's way of managing the drivers. The Brazilian, regularly at the center of rumors about a possible withdrawal by Renault, explained that in his almost 18 months in the French team, he has now learned to deal with the famous public criticisms of the Italian managing director.

"Flavio thinks that public criticism of drivers generates positive pressure" we read in an interview granted to Formule 1 Race Report.

At the beginning of the year Briatore declared that Piquet would not win the world championship with "any car" while after China, the Italian ironically asked himself if his driver was convinced of "scoring more points with every spin".

“I just have to ignore this kind of thing,” Piquet added.
