Petrov is looking for a competitive team in F1

Vitaly Petrov, currently the most competitive Russian driver and winner of a race in GP2 this year, has declared that he is in no rush to get to F1 and that he is not willing to pay, despite having a large budget, for a seat in a not very competitive team.

“There are two ways to become an F1 driver. By paying or by invitation of a team. We don't have budget problems, but it's clear which way is more interesting. For money I could ride for a better team than the last one. But I'm a perfectionist by nature, I don't want a Spyker, a Toro Rosso or a Super Aguri. I'm in no rush and I don't think it's a good idea to sign a contract with an outsider team. If the team doesn't produce results there is no interest either for the team or for its driver" the driver declared to the newspaper Kommersant.

Petrov finished the GP2 championship in 13th place.
