Perez, “McLaren made me better”
And he dreams of the return of Telmex as a sponsor
Sergio Perez the move from the little Sauber to the glorious McLaren was a big step forward. According to the Mexican, in fact, the team would have followed him not only from a physical/preparatory point of view to progress as a sportsman, but also humanly.
“McLaren has made me a better driver and person – he told Marca – As soon as I arrived I was surprised by the closeness shown, by the interest in me and my family, in addition to this I noticed an enormous desire to win, even now that we are experiencing a difficult moment the group continues to be united and I believe this makes the difference."
Then speaking about the expiry of the contract which has linked McLaren to Vodafone for several seasons, at the end of 2014, he continued - "I would very much like to have Telmex, who has been close to me since my debut, at my side again and return to the blue livery, but I don't think that my presence can influence the choice. We are talking about a strong team like no other at a marketing level, I believe that every major brand would like to join it."
Finally, a thought on the time spent at the Ferrari Academy and on some requests received from the top management of the team, – “It was an experience that took me to a better place, I'm happy here and I hope to stay here for many years if not for your entire career. I remember that last year when I was in constant contact with them, they often asked me during the race to pay attention to Alonso. I couldn't say if they did it with everyone or just with me, of course for me whether it was him or Vettel it was the same, the only consideration I could have at most was for my boxing partner if he had helped us bring home a good result".
