Perez at McLaren: official. Hamilton towards Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton should confirm his move to Mercedes soon, the Mclaren in the meantime he officially announced that Sergio Perez he will be his replacement for 2013. The Mexican who achieved three podiums this season, has signed a multi-year contract.

“I am excited and happy to become a pilot of the Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes. Mclaren is one of the biggest names in the history of Formula One. For more than forty years it has been a team where all the drivers have dreamed of racing – I will be on the team where Ayrton Senna has won world titles, and I'm truly honored that they chose me as their partner Jenson Button".

“I spent 2012 working hard to show my potential, but I always remained focused. I am, and always will be, extremely grateful to Peter [Sauber] and all those who at Clean they believed in me by giving me the chance to race in F1."

These were Perez's first official words on the formula1.com website, this scenario effectively cuts it off Michael Schumacher, who will have to find another accommodation if he wants to continue racing and at this point the Sauber hypothesis takes a realistic shape. However, it should not be forgotten that the market can still reserve some twists and turns, with the future of Felipe Massa which could still ignite the market, despite continuous signals coming from Maranello that the Brazilian will renew, we'll see.
