Semi-serious comments on the "double double" in Barcelona

Spanish GP report cards

RATING 4 for Formula boredom
An almost soporific race, due to two cars that appear to be Formula Ones among many Formula Glorias. The advantage over the third place finisher, Ricciardo, is embarrassing, an endurance gap rather than an F1 GP one. The fault of all this? Continuous changes in the rules which, whether you like it or not, lead to situations of this type rather than to a leveling of performance between the various teams, with the show benefiting as a result. For a championship that seems already closed, the introduction of ballasts as happens in the WTCC would be needed to try to slow down those two, or in any case the current dominators, a little.

RATING 8 for VETTEL's "remuntada".
After so many tasteless races, Seb finally puts in a great performance. It's true, he finishes behind Ricciardo once again, but between overtaking and an ok pace the comeback is like a true champion. And then it's not his fault if this year his Red Bull too, and no longer just that of his teammate, occasionally suffers from some technical problems.

RATING 7,5 for the reborn LOTUS
What we saw in Spain seems almost like a miracle. After the "rags to riches" at the beginning of the championship, we are almost back "from rags to riches". The most surprising thing is that such an improvement was obtained like this, from one race to the next, even if the 3-week break will have helped in this sense. Obviously Grosjean was excellent, demonstrating that he certainly hasn't forgotten how to drive, while his dear teammate gets a nice 4, to be generous, given the simply disastrous weekend.

RATING 4 FOR FERRARI
It goes without saying that the Mercedes have lapped practically everyone, but the reds, at least in this GP, look just like 348s burned at the traffic lights by the Golf GTI of Roman Coat, as per Luca Luca's famous story. One then wonders how Lotus manages to improve like this, from one race to the next, while the two Ferraris, after the Chinese podium, go backwards in shrimp style. Where is the development? Where are the improvements?

RATING 6 to both F14T drivers
The only good news, at Ferrari, is that of Kimi finally being a little more on the ball, who manages to get behind his teammate in qualifying, and keep him behind for a good part of the GP, despite the strategy from wall clearly in favor of Nando. And at the end of the race he certainly doesn't send them to journalists, complaining about the "second choice" treatment. Fernando gets the same vote, because he fights without ever giving up. With a Ferrari like this you can't ask for more.

RATING 2 for KOBAYASHI's brakes
Houston we have a problem. As much as the Japanese pilot may be a great detacher (maybe he is, who knows..) it cannot be that he remains without brakes for the second time like a Fiat Uno Turbo at a track day. It is a significant problem, which must be resolved immediately for the safety of him and others.
