Turkish GP report cards – Fabulous Hamilton, Perez and Vettel, Verstappen nervous

Race to forget for Bottas. Albon makes another mistake. Ok Leclerc and Sainz.

Turkish GP report cards – Fabulous Hamilton, Perez and Vettel, Verstappen nervous

lewis hamilton 10 He glides over the slippery and treacherous asphalt with his usual extra gear, cementing a peremptory victory lap after lap, which - if possible - further legitimizes the conquest of his most significant world championship. King of the rain since the beginning, the 10 is also for the beauty of the driving and for the sensitivity in managing the tires and single-seaters.

Sergio Perez 10 He is perfect, solid, impeccable on the increasingly smoother intermediate tyres, the only one to be able to afford the luxury of adopting the same tactics as Louis VII. Yet he is still without a seat, a disaster for a driver who at 30 years old must be considered a true top driver.

Sebastian Vettel 10 The slingshot start, the defense on Hamilton, the management, the pace, the waiting, the lunge. The enchanting day that gives old and never dormant emotions to the beating hearts of Ferrari fans who were waiting for nothing else to embrace the Captain of many battles again. That when he feels the car under his butt it's always a nice sight. Play it again Seb.

Charles Leclerc 8,5 It's a bit slow at the start, because on the water there's a whole lot of experience to be had, yet as soon as the tires come up to temperature and the track is better, Sciarl is the usual spectacle, the impetus and aggressiveness of the comeback, to the point of climbing (almost) all possible positions. Reaching a second place which soon becomes fourth, but only because the excess of enthusiasm is physiological counter-proof of a phenomenon that will happen.

Carlos Sainz 8,5 Dazzling in the wet reflection of the little light of the smooth Turkish asphalt, not so much for the spectacular nature of the action, but for the consistency and intelligence of it which took him up to the fifth place finish. Granitic and reliable, a driver who will be very useful to Ferrari.

Max Verstappen 4,5 A misstep that weighs like a boulder, because it uncovers and reveals limits that in the last two years seemed overcome and archived. An impetuosity and a latent nervousness that explode at the worst moment, leading Max to want to overdo it, to drive like a madman, spinning and hitting the gas like a maniac, or more simply accelerating. He was sixth at the finish line, but he was the big loser of the day.

Alex Albon 4,5 He has the golden opportunity to redeem himself and try to keep his seat, just a stone's throw away, but once again he makes a mistake, ends up in a spin, and proves that he doesn't have the depth to achieve certain goals. With the mitigating factor - at least this - of not doing much worse than Verstappen in Istanbul. But with the aggravating circumstance that for Albon making mistakes is almost normal...

Lando Norris 7,5 He redeems an overall quiet race with overtaking at the end, entertaining the public and having fun. Above all, he always stays on top of things on a critical day for many, a very positive thing being the youngest of the lot.

Lance Stroll 8 Good, really good. Pole on the water is all about his feet, he commands the race with attitude and maturity, he is a driver who has potential, beyond the prejudices that concern him. He wrecked in the last part of the race due to a wrong choice by the team, even if the team spoke of damage to Lance's car which would have caused the annoying graining which effectively prevented the Canadian from going fast. But he is clearly not to blame and ninth place does not do justice to a truly important weekend.

Daniel Ricciardo 6 A little point that is less than a broth, on a day where it is never seriously convincing.

Esteban Ocon 6 Unlucky in contact with Ricciardo and Bottas, he climbs back up to the edge of the points.

Valtteri Bottas 3,5 Suffice it to say, he drives the same car as Hamilton. It literally doesn't fit on the track. Unrecognizable and embarrassing, it is to be hoped that he had some major problems with the set-up and feeling with his W11 otherwise it is a worrying debacle.

Kimi Raikkonen 6 The fourth row in qualifying was excellent, another "number" from Kimi, but in the race his Alfa Sauber just couldn't get the tires up to temperature. He changes them and reciprocates them, but he can do very little.

Antonio Giovinazzi 6 Good in qualifying in the wet, he retired after a few laps due to a gearbox problem. The slip in the alignment lap is painless.

Kevin Magnussen7 He was about to score in the points with this Haas that was even difficult to drive. Unfortunately at the pit stop they didn't fix a tire properly and goodbye. Such a pity.

Romain Grosjean 5 In many years of F1 he has often shown good things, now he races with the attitude of his ex and the lack of motivation makes him appear worse than he really was as a driver. He runs to the back, is knocked out by contact with Latifi.

Nicholas Latifi 4 He stands out only for his contact with Grosjean.

Others: George Russell (5) Pierre Gasly (5,5) Daniil Kvyat (5,5)
