Report cards of the Singapore GP

Report cards of the Singapore GP

By popular demand and a few days late (sorry), here are the report cards for the Singapore GP.

In the spotlight comes Fernando Alonso, who repeats the success of Monza and closes to just 11 points behind the Leader Mark Webber.
Baby Schumi Vettel had to settle for second place after having memorized the diffuser of Ferrari number 8. Mark Webber completed the podium, limiting the damage (his own) and causing some (to Hamilton)

LET'S PROCEED WITH THE VOTES OF THE TOP 10 AT THE FINISH.

Alonso celebrates his fourth victory of the season

1- Fernando Alonso: RATING 10
This time he cannot be denied. Pole, Fastest lap, Victory, Fastest lap of the Paddock on foot, by bike, by scooter. He was seen two days after the race driving around city traffic and repeating the same times.
Jokes aside: perfect weekend with only two flaws. The first is the slow start, now a must. Evidently, if for Barrichello we were talking about the steering wheel of the Chicco, for him the problem is the clutch of a 127. Second inaccuracy when the Safety Car restarts, when it goes wide and dangerously allows the Baby to get closer. However, he keeps Vettel behind him for dozens of laps and is not scared by the idea that the German could repeat the memorable exploits of Istanbul and Spa. The World Championship is starting to get closer, and as long as his opponents eliminate themselves, all he can do is remain calm.

2- Sebastian Vettel: RATING 7.5
Excellent weekend given Baby's previous appointments. Unfortunately for him, he finds a very good Alonso but he is the only one who can easily keep up with him. Half a vote less because he doesn't even try on the last lap when he passes practically stuck to the Spanish speaker. Over the radio he says, at the start of the race, to "control" the Ferrarista, as if he could pass him whenever he wants. In fact, he showed up. Clear improvement, but he still doesn't have the depth needed to become Champion.

3- Mark Webber: RATING 5,5
He holds on at the top of the standings but he has to wake up if he wants to still reach the end in the same position. He remains bottled up and immediately changes tires (on lap 3) to attempt the coup. To tell the truth, he achieves a great coup, but it is not what he intended and above all not what Hamilton intended. The dynamics of the incident obviously leads to different interpretations based on the support, the fact is that the slightly too optimistic braking of the Australian puts the Englishman out of the game. Among other things, Mark is lucky to reach the finish line without the right front tire, which was the protagonist of the contact with Hamilton, coming off the rim.

4- Jenson Button: RATING 6,5
Many say that he is not as good as his teammate, yet he takes home the loaf this time too. After the good second place in Monza, he achieved the maximum with this arrival in fourth position. He too, together with Baby, seems the least likely to win the final, but the consistency is there and the results prove it. He doesn't show up often, of course, but this Formula 1 also rewards continuity and he (if no one overwhelms him or blocks his radiators) has plenty to spare.

5- Nico Rosberg: RATING 7.5
The most loved by the anti-Kaiser Italians is the protagonist of an excellent performance with the rebodied C220 (strictly Diesel). He is rarely seen but achieves an excellent performance on a track that he likes, given his second place in 2008.
It's often said that it's a lot of smoke and no fire, yet you wouldn't know it from the performance. It would be curious to see him with a TOP car (which Mercedes is NOT at the moment) to have proof.

6- Rubens Barrichello: RATING 7
He returns to the points after 4 dull races and makes his centuries-old experience count. Williams' improvements are certainly also the result of his work. More and more Highlanders, and he could even overtake his former captain Michael Schumacher in the standings.

7- Robert Kubica: RATING 8
Idol. The new tires are ok, the F-Duct (DUCT, NOT DUCK!!!) is ok, but the string of overtakings in which he was the protagonist from the 50th lap onwards are oxygen for Formula 1 and a wake-up call for afternoon naps of those who can't resist Sunday trains. The overtake on Sutil on the outside was spectacular, but most of all what was striking was the consistency of overtaking per lap, as if time had gone back five decades. He too deserves a Top Team, unless Renault produces a missile for 2011.

8- (but 10th at the finish line) Felipe Massa: RATING 6,5
He was the subject of ridicule for not having made even one overtaking move (at least in direct recovery). Yet ultimately he finished 10th and then 8th due to sanctions against Sutil and Hulkenberg. The tire change already on the first lap is no small justification. When Kubica showed up behind him with guns pointed and tires fresh from 6 or 7 laps, he who had had the same ones for 52 by now had no choice but to let himself pass. We should evaluate all the variables a bit before issuing sentences. 6.5 of encouragement, because then like all Brazilians he gets sad and the President doesn't want it. If he gets dark, how does he take away points from his opponents?

9- (but 8th at the finish line) Adrian Sutil: MARK 7
He brings Force India into the points, although he loses a position at the end of the race for trying to climb over the tail during the first lap (turn 7). Thick race that demonstrates the German's skills. It would also be curious for him to see him at the wheel of a more competitive car, because he gives the impression of being able to do good things. As a good pianist, he also knows how to use the pedals.

10- (but 9th at the finish line) Nico Hulkenberg: RATING 6
He brings the second Williams to the points, but is seen much less than his team leader grandfather. He keeps Sutil company in an attempt to jump the queue on the first lap, but since there is no telepass in F1 he is then sanctioned with the addition of 20 seconds at the end of the race, as is the Force India driver. Felipe Massa expresses his heartfelt thanks.

LET'S CONTINUE WITH THE DRIVERS WHO DID NOT OBTAIN POINTS

Kovalainen in Firefighter version

11- Vitaly Petrov: RATING 5
It doesn't have the F-duct unlike Kubica and it shows. But don't justify the difference in race pace with this detail alone. He spends his time following trains helplessly.

12- Jaime Alguersuari: RATING 5.5
Suaro isn't seen too much this time. After the good intentions after qualifying, a colorless race. He also attempts a coup by changing tires on the third lap, but nothing special happens.

13- Michael Schumacher: RATING 5
He remained behind Barrichello for the entire first part of the race, after the tire change the situation improved significantly in terms of times (he finished with the 4th best time overall). Hit squarely by a Sauber Boeing 747 with a Nippo flag displayed from the control room, it lost further ground and sank. He then tries to take revenge, but since - at least according to many - he is old, senile and therefore sees less in the evening, he does not realize that he hits the wrong Boeing (Heidfeld's). He has been postponed to 2011. And at least Mercedes will run on petrol next year.

14- Sebastien Buemi: RATING 5.5
The same goes for the Sauro, it is practically never seen. Unlike his teammate, he stops halfway through the race but there are no improvements.

15- Lucas di Grassi: RATING 6
He brings Virgin to the finish line, even if two laps behind, and this is already a merit to be praised with half a vote more given the smallness of the new teams this year and the patience of looking more at the mirrors than at the track. But anyway, Richard Branson always laughs...Happiness!

16- Heikki Kovalainen: RATING 7
Yes, 7. Because here we need to take an average between the performance in the race (6 of encouragement, as for Di Grassi) and the 8 for firefighter skills. He says he was afraid to take the Lotus into the pits because the lane was too crowded. Having established that there was no one at the entrance to the pitlane, the only thing we can think of is that he was negotiating with the CEA Lions and wanted to show off his skills.

LET'S END WITH THE WITHDRAWALS

For Hamilton another zero in the standings after the one in Monza

Timo Glock: RATING 6
We don't feel like giving a lower than passing grade to those who suffer the pain of hell on Mobile Chicanes. Furthermore, after the return of the SC, Timo manages to keep behind for a few laps 3 or 4 cars faster than him by at least 2 seconds per lap. To thank him for his effort, his Virgin leaves him stranded. How much patience.

Nick Heidfeld: RATING 6.5
Nick the Quick makes his return and doesn't do too badly until the Kaiser hits him. In qualifying he remains four positions behind Kobayashi but, all things considered, as a first race it can be defined as a good one.

Lewis Hamilton: RATING 6.5
He runs from 7, squeezing everything he can out of the Mclaren, until Webber discreetly accompanies him off the track. He could have widened the trajectory a little more when overtaking on the outside and hence the half mark less. The double zero Monza-Singapore is a nice blow, but the Englishman is not the type to give up, already from Suzuka he could roar again.

Christian Klien: RATING 6.5
He made his debut on the HRT and overall did better than Bruno Senna. Perhaps he is better at rally driving than the Brazilian. Of course, the HRTs are so badly damaged that judging the two drivers fairly isn't exactly easy, but he proved to be up to the task. We'll see if Kimi Raikkonen's advice will help him drive this GP2 passed off as F1 better.

Kamui Kobayashi: RATING 5
From Japan with Furore, this time Nippo exaggerates a bit in his overtaking optimism and, after asking Michael Schumacher for a path and giving him a 180°, he hits the worst point of the entire track. Postponed. Good talent but too hasty in certain situations.

Bruno Senna: RATING 5
Exception that proves the rule for Mobile Chicane pilots.
He didn't understand anything for the whole weekend (we don't know, but we assume it was also due to problems with the HRT) and to end the weekend in style he helps Kobayashi park his Sauber better inside the guardrail. On Twitter he says that the yellow flags arrived too late. It could be, but the weekend is still terrible and quickly forgotten.

Jarno Trulli: RATING 6
Of pure encouragement. It takes a lot of patience to start every time knowing that it is difficult to get to the halfway point of the race. Luckily he brought some wine to cheer himself up after yet another disappointment of the year.

Vitantonio Liuzzi: RATING 5
He broke a suspension in a contact on the first lap. He should think less about the super-airbrushed helmets, and more about his teammate who is proving to be much more consistent than him. And this isn't just about Sutil's F-Duct which works better than his.
