Black clouds over the Singapore GP

Black clouds over the Singapore GP

It was a rather dark day in Marina Bay, the city where the fifteenth stage of the 2010 F1 world championship will be held this weekend.
The street circuit paddock is currently wet, and several black clouds have been seen hovering over the circuit. Several surveys report that bad weather forecasts will cover most of the days in which the GP will be held.

There will certainly be concern among the teams and drivers, who could be annoyed by the reflections caused by the rain droplets on the asphalt, under the glittering spotlights of the track.

“I think the rain could be really stimulating,” said Nico Rosberg who arrived in Singapore ahead of the weekend.

But most of the rain in Singapore this time of year, it seems, seems to fall during daylight hours; while the action on the circuit is scheduled for the evening or for the hours after sunset, in order to facilitate the fundamental audience of European television.

Another concern may be high humidity conditions in the city.

“The track could still remain very wet ahead of the GP in the evening, which will make it difficult for the drivers to stay cool and focused,” explains Formula One doctor Riccardo Ceccarelli.
